It was midnight. Dubai, the city that never sleeps was still live and vibrant, flashy and neon. The city seemed just switched over to the night mode. Everything else was the same as it would look under a day sky. We reached an equally flamboyant International Airport , with glitzy surroundings, kept neat, tidy and truly international.
' The comfort and hospitality in the Emirates flights is unique and the flying experience is expected to reach higher clouds ' Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport has an exclusive section for check-in to Emirates flights. There is a couple of self check-in online equipments and wide row of assisted desks. It was quite relieving to see rows or of ‘any flight @ any counter’; something unique to Dubai Port. No hitch, no delay, no long wait. We checked in comfortably. The smooth check-in process was a good start to a great night trip to Kerala, India for a vacation.
We were on board EK 530Y of Emirates, international airline of Dubai, half an hour before the take-off. Sitting back and relaxing, we sifted through the different channels in the individual infotainment system; slipped into a real restive mood when the lighting changed on the move. The take off was so smooth that it felt just as we were gliding through the cloudy planes. A good sleep was first on our agenda and we wasted no time to slip inside the warm covers. Good night, guys! Sweet dreams.
But sleep never came by. The trip from Sharjah to Dubai in car on the hot and humid Dubai night and a couple of coffee on the way has already done the damage. Despite the cozy spread and the soothing flight, we couldn’t sleep properly. And the sleeplessness was not without its costs in the morning. A bad sleep will end up in a bad breakfast and a bad breakfast sets off a tasteless day. But, it was just the breakfast that got the thumb down.
(We chose Emirates for our return trip after the vacation. The day flight from Cochin to Dubai was incredible. I must add that the lunch we had this time was truly delicious- complete with a choice of dishes. As the dishes came after a good nights’ sleep, we’d a great time at the lunch on air)
' we could not convince ourselves that it was a 4 hour journey, but it was a tranquillizing transition from work to vacation., 'I noticed Reema switching between the film channels and the navigation details and direction maps. Deep down, the emerald crest of the tropical paradise was just waking up after a rainy night. It was monsoon in the subcontinent. When landed at Kochi, we could not convince ourselves that it was a 4 hour journey, but it was a tranquillizing transition from work to vacation.
The comfort and hospitality in the Emirates flights is unique and the flying experience is expected to reach higher clouds with the exclusive Emirates’ Terminal at Dubai Airport is ready and in full swing. Once established, this would be the first ever terminal in the world dedicated to a single airline.
The calm after a heavy rain welcomed us at Kochi Airport and the lush greenery was quick to take us in, back to our home.
